Take a tour of a Prep ClassroomPrep is the first year of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at MBBC. The PYP is the international framework used to deliver the Australian Curriculum and it enables boys to benefit from a rich, global perspective to their learning. Early mathematical skills are introduced through songs and rhymes and the boys use a variety of mathematical equipment and soon become budding mathematicians. Boys are engaged in building knowledge of words and letters and enjoy a range of different text types as readers and emerging writers. Our PYP Units of Inquiry take their wondering to a whole new level in science, history, geography and technology. Boys have specialist time for Music, Physical Education and Visual Art activities.
Learn more about the Primary Years ProgrammeBoys at MBBC from Prep to Year 6 have a MATE, commonly referred to as a buddy. Our MATEs programme stands for Mentoring Another Through Education. Our Prep boys are paired up with a Year 3 boy. As part of the MATEs programme, the boys come together on a regular basis to learn together through reading, a numeracy activity or through play. The Year 3 boys support the Preppies in the playground and help them settle into the MBBC way of life. This successful programme provides Prep boys with a mentor and assists older primary boys in developing their leadership skills. Our Prep boys really love spending time with their MATE.
