Masterplan | Moreton Bay Boys' College

Ministerial Infrastructure Designation

Plans to improve our facilities

To help us achieve our aim to deliver an outstanding College experience for our students and families, we have been developing a masterplan, in collaboration with our community and key stakeholders, to help guide our future. Importantly, this masterplan aims to balance built form and open space across the College through appropriate building transitions and height limits, preserving our unique natural bushland setting and ensuring suitable interfaces with our neighbours to align with community expectations.

Proposed Ministerial Infrastructure Designation

Moreton Bay Boys' College has requested that the Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning designate our premises at 302 Manly Road, Manly West as a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID). This request is being made under Schedule 5, Part 2 of the Planning Act 2016.

The designation will be for the purposes of:

  • Education facilities; and
  • Facilities at which an education and care service under the Education and care Services National Law (Queensland) is operated.

The proposed MID has been requested in accordance with Chapter 2, Part 5 of the Planning Act 2016. If the designation is approved it will reflect what the College uses the land for today.

Retaining our natural setting

The project will not involve any clearing of the eastern ecological zone. Some clearing of existing planted vegetation will occur in our campus area, outside of the eastern ecological zone. Any koala food trees will be retained whether in the ecological zone or not. New buildings identified in the masterplan will be located to protect the natural setting and the amenity of our neighbours. These buildings will include:

  • senior school learning suite and breakout rooms
  • new roof over existing sporting courts
  • small auditorium space with multi‐media lab
  • small gym extension incorporating shaded areas and seating
  • new early learning centre with associated parking
  • new seniors/middle school building
  • sports pavilions adjoining the main sports oval
  • new left‐out only to Manly Road
  • new business centre spanning over existing car parks
  • new administration building and reception area
  • small observation deck within the environmental covenant area.
